What a summer! The Ongar in Bloom team certainly had their work cut out in keeping the town planters well watered and looking happy throughout the hot, dry summer but with the usual dedication (and then some more) we managed to do so and who's complaining - it makes it all worthwhile just to hear your lovely compliments!)
The winter planting of 2021 made way for a red, white and blue planting theme in the year or our dear Queens Platinum jubilee. The scarlet and white geranium, together with blue Salvia and Verbena, certainly did our town proud.
Summer is always over too soon isn't it and before we knew it was time to get planting for winter. It's always sad to have to remove plants that are still flowering their socks off but rest assured we have re-assigned some of the perennial salvia to the rose bed at the Budworth Hall bus stop and to St Clare's hospice at Hastingwood.
So as the seasons progress you will see hundreds of mixed coloured polyanthus gradually come into flower to once more brighten those darker days of winter.
It is a fine balance between being environmentally friendly and providing year round impact with our planting but we do the best we can. If you would like to get involved then please do click on the email link and let us know!
